Jim and Teresa Yent are the owners of Golden Years Advisors, an independent financial services firm that focuses on retirement planning. When asked why they spent the years required putting this program in place Jim replied:
"The day my parents' financial well-being was put into my hands was the day that I found that I didn't have a clue about what they really needed. I had been a consultant in financial services for years and was considered an experienced and respected professional by my peers. But I was clueless about what retirees really need from an advisor."
In response to their own family's need, Jim and Teresa put together a practical "best practice" planning approach that is extremely clear and understandable. Teresa explained that their "goal was to help our clients build their own personal plan that was so straight-forward that they could explain the overall concept to their children using a single piece of paper." What they created was a process that enables retirees to see a road map and to plot their course for the next few decades of their life. Clients are very pleased and more confident in their planning when they are able to get answers to the issues that concern them the most.
